the path to the buddha’s table

Life

is a dream,

the years pass by like

flowing waters. Glamour and glory are

transient as autumn smoke; what tragedy —

for with the sun set deeply in the

west, still there are those

lost among paths of

disillusionment.

Our heart

should be clear as ice.

Forget all the worldly nonsense.

Sit calmly, breathe quietly, heart bright

and spotless as an empty mirror.

This is the path to

the buddha’s

table.

Loy Ching-Yuen

dissolve all ideas of duality

The teaching

of the Integral Way will go on

as long as there is a Tao and someone who

wishes to embody it; what is painted in

these scrolls today will appear in

different forms in many

generations to

come.

These things,

however, will never change:

Those who wish to attain oneness must

practice undiscriminating virtue. They must

dissolve all ideas of duality: good and bad, beautiful

and ugly, high and low. They will be obliged to abandon

any mental bias born of cultural or religious belief.

Indeed, they should hold their minds free

of any thought which interferes with

their understanding of the

universe as a harmonious

oneness.

The

beginning

of these practices is

the  beginning of

liberation.

rely on love play

Lots of arms,

just like Kannon the Goddess;

sacrificed for me, garnished with citron,

I revere it so! The taste of the sea, just divine!

Sorry, Buddha, this is another precept I just cannot keep.

Exhausted with gay pleasures, I embrace my wife.

The narrow path of asceticism is not for me;

my mind runs in the opposite direction.

It is easy to be glib about Zen—

I’ll just keep my mouth shut

and rely on love play

all the day

long.

free and peaceful in all you do

There is no

difference between your

body and the body of the buddha.

If ignorance exists, seeds

of realization are

sown in it.

Seeing

yourself in the master and

the master in yourself, you sense

reality. Understanding that all worldly

phenomena and the one reality are

interwoven and inseparable,

you begin to experience

peace and comfort.

Carrying on,

continuing on with concentration,

you illuminate your own buddha nature

from within, and then, seeing that nothing

is apart from it, become free

and peaceful in all

you do.
