The best effort
one can make is the
gentlest effort: wei wu wei.
Quietly, persistently direct the
mind toward emptiness. When
all thoughts and ideas have
dissipated, then make no
further effort. Just
breathe.
This is the only
practice required of a
human, the best one, the one
that perfectly purifies
our lives.

The essence of awareness, complete and clear, is a formless body. Don’t mistake far and near based on intellectual opinion. When thoughts differ, you’re blind to the substance of the mysteries. When mind diverges, you’re not neighbor to the Way. When subjectively discriminating myriad things, you get submerged in the objects before you. When conscious awareness is fragmented, you lose the basic reality. If you understand such expressions with complete clarity, you’ll wind up unburdened, as you were before. Body impermanent like spring mist; Mind insubstantial like empty sky; Thoughts unestablished like breezes in space. Think about these three points over and over. Search out the point where your thoughts arise and disappear. See where a thought arises and vanishes. Keep this point in mind and try to break right through it. Take up this awareness as if holding a sharp sword in your hand. Search out the point where your thoughts arise and disappear. See where a thought arises and vanishes.
