Those who wear the
patched robe of a zen wayfarer
should be completely serious about
taking death and birth as
their business.
Don’t
covet name and fame.
Step back and turn to reality, until
your practical understanding
and virtue are fully
actualized.
Men are afraid
to forget their minds,
fearing to fall through the Void
with nothing to stay their fall. They
do not know that the Void is not
really void, but the realm of
the real Dharma.
So you students
of the Way should immediately
refrain from all conceptual thought.
Let a tacit understanding be all!
Any mental processes must
lead to error.

and realization is right
where you
stand.

When you are
sitting in meditation,
watch carefully to know when

all be aware of it. To know there is

When you are completely
absorbed in your breathing, there is no self.
What is your breathing? That breathing is not you, nor air.
What is it? It is not self at all. When there is no self,
you have absolute freedom. Because you have
a silly idea of self, you have
a lot of problems.
