things a good man would do

posted in Uncategorized on February 11, 2024 by Brian

like so

How much freedom

is gained if a man ignores what

his neighbor said or did or intended

and considers only what he himself is doing

and how to make his actions just and right, the

kind of things a good man would do! Don’t let

your attention be caught by the darkness

of others’ movements; just run straight

on the line, with no ungainly

movements.

neither pursuing nor avoiding

Your peace of mind

is disturbed by the pursuit or avoidance

of things, but these things don’t force themselves on you;

in a sense, you force yourself on them. At any rate, if your faculty

of judgment doesn’t trouble itself with them, they too

will remain inert, and evidently you’ll

be neither pursuing nor

avoiding them.
