do the next thing with devotion

it’s not always about the men

Nobody can set right

a mismanaged life with a few words.

But there is no pit you cannot climb out of provided

you make the right effort at the right place. When one is in a mess

like you are, one has no right any more to worry about the idiocy of one’s

own psychology, but must do the next thing with diligence and devotion

and earn the goodwill of others. In every littlest thing you do in this

way you will find yourself. Everyone has to do it the hard

way, and always with the next, the littlest,

and the hardest things.

the tao doesn’t avoid the world

true mastery

Do you think

you can clear your mind

by sitting constantly in silent

meditation? This makes

your mind narrow,

not clear.

Integral awareness is

fluid and adaptable, present in all

places and at all times.
 That is

true meditation.

Who can attain

clarity and simplicity by

avoiding the world? The Tao is clear

and simple, and it doesn’t

avoid the world.

Why not simply honor

your parents,
 love your children,
help

your brothers and sisters,
be faithful to your

friends,
care for your mate with devotion,
 complete

your work cooperatively and joyfully,
 assume responsibility

for problems,
 practice virtue without first demanding

it of others,
understand the highest truths yet

retain an ordinary manner?

That would be true clarity,

true simplicity, true

mastery.
