Obama pledges to prosecute himself for BP oil spill

June 2nd, 2010

Go to 3:03.

In a Rose Garden appearance

Obama put it this way, according to The Times:

“If laws were broken, leading to death and destruction,” Obama said,

“my solemn pledge is, we will bring those responsible

to justice on behalf of the victims of this

catastrophe and the people

of the Gulf region.”

“We will bring

those responsible to justice”:

er, that would be you, Mr. President.

For over two and a half years, which encompasses

the lion’s share of your campaign and all of your Presidency,

it has been known that the Minerals Management Service was a 70′s

disco for BP and their ilk:  ”Interior Department employees accepted gifts

from oil and gas companies, participated in ‘a culture of substance abuse and

promiscuity’ and considered themselves exempt from federal ethics rules.” You

read this report, just like I did:  ”The investigation also found drug and sex

abuse both inside the program and ‘in consort with industry.’

One supervisor, Greg Smith, engaged in illegal drug use

and had sexual relations with subordinates. Several

staff members admitted to illegal drug use as

well as illicit sexual encounters, and some

had sexual relationships with

industry contacts.”

The degree to which

your administration was in bed with BP

is a matter of record. You are the chief executive officer

of the United States of America.  If you are going to “bring those

responsible to justice”, instruct Eric Holder to

prosecute Barack Obama when he

prosecutes Tony Hayward.
